Kit Preview : 1/76 FujimiPanzerJager I

About the manufacturer
Fujimi is the only remaining active major 1/76 plastic injection molded kit manufacturer. They took on the Nitto range about a decade ago and have been rereleasing tehir catalog gradually. Their latest kits include link and length hard plastic tracks. Be sure to check if the kit you are buying has the old rubbery tracks or the new ones. Just a hint: the cheaper ones have the vinyl tracks.
Henk of Holland has a very useful list of all the serial numbers of Fujimi and Nitto kits.

About the vehicle
The Panzer Jager I was the first German tank destroyer, mounting a Czech 47mm gun on a Panzer I B chassis. Here is the Wikipedia entry on this vehicle.

About the kit
This looks to be a nice model. The seven-sided shield is the late version. The tracks are vinyl but seem well detailed. Detailing is crisp with separate tools and stowage. Decals are provided for three versions, one DAK (with insignias for 15th and 21st Pz divisions) and two panzer gray ones labeled 1940 and 1941 along with insignias for SS Pz divisions LeibStandarte and Totenkopf.

The rail at the rear of the hull is actually with a mesh grille. Part number 36, which supposedly represents the mesh grill rail at the rear of the hull is woefully inadequate. This is where an etched brass piece would come in handy. <
