Kit Preview : 1/76 MMS Morris CS8 15cwt Truck
About the manufacturer
MMS is the leading 1/76 white metal model brand. The quality of casting and level of detail are comparable to traditional plastic kits, albeit without etched metal detailing. Smaller details such as mirrors are often omitted , and the running gear of tracked vehicles is usually a simplified one piece casting where the guide teeth are backed by a solid metal strengthening strip.
Due to the tight packaging in unprotected plastic bags, parts often come bent or one might say, with pre-built battle damage. Care must be taken to straighten things out lest parts be broken.
About the vehicle
The Morris CS8 was one of the many series of 15cwt trucks builf for the British Army in the immediate prewar years. Devoid of doors and even a windshield and considering UK weather, they must have been designed by a sadist. This is the wireless version with a house body.
About the kit
This kit shares all the cab and chassis components of the Morris CS8 GS kit. The wireless house tyope body replaces the GS body. The rolled canvas doors hvae not made the transition however. They will need to be added.
For some reason, the individual windscreens have been molded in solid metal. They could be used as template for cutting new ones in clear acetate. The mirrors will have to be added.
Overall a very nice kit. It can be done in BEF or desert colors.
