Kit Preview : 1/76 MMS T-34/85 Model 1943
The T-34 was upgunned with an 85m gun to counter the new Tiger and Panther tanks in 1943
The T-34/85's first version was equipped with a D-5T 85mm gun as an interim model while the better ZiS S-53 gun was modified to fit the turret. They were in production only a short time, from January to March 1944 and served from Spring 1944 until the end of the war.
simple instruction sheet.
Hull, one piece tracks with rubber rimmed wheels. The 4 grab handles on each side of the hull are not provided.
Very good representation of waffle type tracks
The periscope is the dome shaped PTK-5, which is appropriate for this version.
Overall a very good kit. The difficulty will be to find alternative decorations to an all-green tank. Most photos of T-34-85's represent later models. I find it odd that MMS would do the 1943 model, and not the more widespread 1944/45 models.
