Kit Preview : 1/76 Nitto VW KuebelWagen Type 82

About the manufacturer
Nitto produced 1/76 armor models in the seventies and eighties. They were very sophisticated for the time, often including interior and engine details, separate, lights, tools, and stowage. Unfortunately, they tended to get the big picture wrong and most had major dimensional flaws.
Nitto kits are now sold as part of the Fujimi range, but it is worth remembering the origin of those kits.

About the kit

This is in my opinion the best KuebelWagen in kit form. The only flaws are the oversize windshield hinges and simplified canvas canopies. The interior could also use some detailing, especially if no figures will be added. On the other hand fitting figures in is a challenge in such a small model.

A good conversion is to swap the standard tires for oversize desert tires. I read somewhere that aircraft tires were actually used. Maybe some wheels from 1/72 fighters could work.
